About Me
Hello, my name is Devin. I live in Chicago, and I'm pursuing a career in librarianship. The constant in my professional life has been education. After (and during) my own stints as a student, I have held positions as teacher, tutor, and adviser. I have worked with students from kindergarten to college, from a wide variety of backgrounds, and at all levels. I have led clubs, planned events, and advised students on every topic from poetry to finance.
Perhaps my most formative teaching experiences occured in Japan, where I was an English teacher. To negotiate cultural and linguistic barriers and find the common ground needed to establish the teacher-learner bond was an effort that required a persistent willingness, if not stubborn devotion, to change. To be able to adapt quickly to new challenges was the most crucial skill there, but it's one that has also served me well since.
My time in Japan also helped nurture my lifelong love of travel. Some of my other interests include photography, making music, movies, bicycling, and learning languages.
If you have any questions at all, I would love to hear from you.
